History of Our Chapter

The Chapter was conceived by the following: Ann Holt, Shirley Holden, Andrea Laurence, Sher Selner, Diane Cooper (SDP Contact), and Cathy Folatco. A steering committee also included Janet Smith.  The first challenge was to find a meeting place that would allow painting.  The first meeting was held on 9-25-1998 with 25 interested ladies in attendance at the South Coastal Library in Bethany Beach DE.  The steering committee needed to complete all paper work required and find officers for the year 2000. We were an affiliated chapter of SDP at their convention in Nashville in May of 2000.

Shirley Holden became the first president, Ann Holt the Newsletter Editor, Sher Selner Treasurer, Andrea Laurence Secretary.  All have moved away but still belong to SDP, and

Ann Holt is still  a member of our Chapter. The Chapter continues to maintain the high standards these ladies helped establish. Our 10th Anniversary was celebrated with a luncheon in October at Baywood.  Shirley Holden and Ann Holt attended the celebration.

Our Logo was designed by Ann Holt CDA and the  Newsletter Delmarva Painters' Digest was named by Sandy Ryan.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas time and are now ready to start the new year of meetings and painting fun with the Chapter. Looking back we did have a good year with  two fun seminars for learning, awards for chapter members at the

State Fair and Del-Tech  Senior Art Show,  painting Memory Boxes and Wounded Warrior  Bags, plus decorating a Hospice Tree and Wreath for charity. Besides all of these we still had time to paint with our teacher members  and enjoy the food and camaraderie of our Christmas Party with ornament exchange and adorable houses.

I want to thank everyone who contributed and helped to make 2011 such a good

year and hope we can continue to have a good, strong chapter this year.  I think you will all enjoy the things we have lined up to do.

I am looking forward to serving you again this year as President  and we still have the Memory Boxes and Christmas Party that need Committee Chairs so this is your

opportunity to serve too. Please let me know if you can help.
